Marathon Training

I just got done running the longest distance I have ever run: 15 miles. I literally just ran for 2 1/2 hours of my life. And to think… I still have 11 more miles to go when I run the marathon in January. WHY AM I DOING THIS AGAIN????

I tried to sit down once I got home and my body didn’t know how to bend to get into position. My legs want to be permanently stuck in a runners stance. I don’t even want to think about what they’re going to feel like tomorrow!

But it does feel good to finish and to know that I’ve been disciplined enough to get this far. I just need some prayer to keep me going for two more months.

Matt Chandler has helped me get through most of my runs. If you haven’t listened to his podcasts, make sure you search for him on Itunes. He needs to start preaching some more though, because I’m running out of messages to listen to. I get through around 4 sermons in 15 miles.

And another good thing about finishing 15 miles… I now get to consume an extra 1500 calories to make up for it. Any food suggestions?

Nice job sister. I’m up to 9 in training for my half. I’ve never run more than 10, so it’l be interesting to see how it goes. 15 is a long way. 26.2 is longer.

When I was training for marathons, I had the worst eating habits in the
world. After my last marathon, I STILL had the worst eating habits in the
world. Unfortunately, I wasn’t STILL training. Five years later, I was 20 pounds
heavier than my marathon days and hating it. I’ve since dropped that weight, but it
hasn’t been easy. You go girl! One step at a time.
